About Me

I am Judit Szalai. Art therapist, Gestalt therapist, ex-teacher.

I have been working with various groups of people and individuals for more than 20 years. In the last ten or so years I've been partly doing this in a multicultural environment. Meeting people from all over the world on a daily basis gives me an insight into other cultures and at the same time puts me and my own country into a different perspective. For several years I was teaching in an international college, currently I'm running art therapy groups for foreigners living in Budapest and I have individual clients from all over the world. It is like taking a worldwide journey within the boundaries of Budapest.

Throughout the years of teaching students often found me with their stories and difficulties and sooner or later I found myself in the role of the listener. Arts and crafts and photography have always played an important role in my life.  Pictures and images of all kinds help me make sense of the world and cope with challenges. All this led to the decision of becoming an art therapist  and finished my training in 2013. Art therapy seemed to be a melting pot of my various interests, – and it indeed is – and has given me great pleasure ever since I started it.

In the meantime I finished a 4-year Gestalt therapy training, and I am also working as a Gestalt therapist with mostly individual clients. I find the Gestalt approach extremely fascinating and useful in both my personal and professional life.

Working as an art therapist alongside with Gestalt seems to have brought the balance I've been seeking.
